“Love Without Domination”
A Zoom Lens Compilation of Family & Friends
All proceeds donated towards ACLU, Border Angels & Planned Parenthood.
“Love Without Domination” was conceived immediately following the announcement of The United States’ presidential elect on November 9th, 2016. Many of the tracks were quickly recorded directly in reaction towards those events, or simply submitted to aid the voice in protest & solidarity.
The compilation was created in order to serve the purpose of establishing hope & progress throughout our artistic community and beyond - to widen the scope of the unification & understanding that must be put forth together in order to fight the growing establishment of, and the new tangible faces of fascism, white nationalism, media & corporate corruption, and the inconceivable bigotry and threat towards marginalized communities & our environment respectively.
With the growing co-option of online spaces and diminished liberation of the Internet, the underlying ethos of Zoom Lens defined as "digital punk rock spirit" has become further nuanced. Ultimately, the label seeks to navigate through all spaces to cultivate a community, which intends to create diversified music intended to disrupt and subvert commonality in its portrayal of collapsing the binary between pop & experimental music and its typically perceived emotional resonance.
No matter how raw and unrelenting such expression is, whether or not it will be upheld by the perceived standard of electronic music and the validation of conservative publications & gatekeepers - we will tear down the stylized face of propagated hate & reductive complacency, and refuse to submit towards labeling anything that promotes it as less so.
Through art, make dialogue and break boundaries. When dealing with an oppressive force who is meant to pacify our feelings, self-expression is rebellion. Utilize your skills, your privileges, and your strengths in all forms. Militarize yourself with unforgiving self-love and radical passion.
We hope to be the soundtrack to fuel your motivation and urgency to take action in any way you can in your current situation.
We are pissed and we came here to dance.
